Taylor Park is out of the way for most folks, so it probably will not work.
Pocky Whore and neo_genesis236 went to check out Philippe Park in Safety Harbor today and it sounds like the ideal place for us to hold our Picnic. We should probably consider calling and reserving a shelter. 2525 Philippe Pkwy., Safety Harbor, FL 34695 (727) 669-1947 http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/11_Philippe.htm Last edited by Titan_X : 07-03-2009 at 11:54 PM. |

I did a quick check and the only shelter available at Philippe Park on the 18th is first-come, first-served. All the other shelter are reserved for the next month or so on Saturdays and Sundays. The odds of us getting the first-come, first-served shelter are slim, and it's not something we want to count on.
We now have about two weeks to get a plan together. In order for this to come off, the following things need to be done. 1. Choose a location. -a. Is it close to people? 2. If the location requires reservations... -a. Find out if appropriate reservations are available (we only need space for 20, at best - probably less) -b. Find out how much reservations cost -c. Determine how the reservation is going to be paid 3. Decide who is providing what: -a. Meat (Les) -b. Charcoal -c. Plates -d. Utensils -e. Paper towels -f. Drinks (water, soda, and any alcohol (does the location allow alcohol?)) -g. Side dishes -h. Condiments -i. (optionally) Deserts -j. Grill (if the location has none) -k. Grilling tools (fire, tongs, spatula, at a minimum) -l. Blankets (if the location has no tables) -m. Cups 4. Find somebody to do the grilling 5. Choose beginning and ending times for the event 6. Communicate to everybody (via this thread, club meeting, and email) all of the above information. 7. Find out how many people are coming, given all the above information 8. Figure out transportation -a. If the location is distant, who needs a ride, and who can give a ride? -b. Provide directions Taking pictures at one location won't suffice. You can use this link to search for locations with availability. Post any and all discussion and decisions in this thread, and we'll move all the info to the first post, where it will be easy to find. We only have two weeks, so there's no time to waste. Since this is Pocky Whore's project, I'm leaving it to him to organize the information. Last edited by Sharp : 07-04-2009 at 01:07 PM. |

Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs looks pretty nice, and it looks like it's not completely booked on the 18th. All the other parks in the area just don't look as appealing or are way out of the way for everyone.
Other great parks that aren't booked are John Taylor Park (as matisleonhart suggested), Walsingham Park and Lake Seminole Park. If distance weren't such an issue, I'd recommend Lake Seminole Park. |

Philippe Park is closest to a store (might have to do a few store runs) and kinda near most everybody. Fred Howard would be my second pick. both have tables, grills and bathrooms. All Pinellas county parks are first come, first serve but they are free and no alcohol. I know some of the parks people, I'll see if they'll pull some strings for us. I'll be paying for the meat, buns, condiments, Tomatoes, onions, lettuce, Charcoal, paper plates, cups, utensils, paper towels, peanuts (to feed the squirrels The Dawson) and grilling tools. If this works out maybe it can be a yearly thing. I'm also thinking about doing it again in the winter; What do you guys think?

I'm definitely down for this, as you guys know. PW, any help you need, give me a ring or text, and I'll do whatever you need. I'll be more than happy to make a side dish, bring drinks, bring chips and anything necessary! :3
Edit: Which reminds me, can I bring someone along? o.o Last edited by neo_genesis236 : 07-05-2009 at 01:50 AM. |

im down for either park as well. been to fred howard many times and have always loved it. i found a pretty well stocked asian market directly next to the Tampa Pitcher Show and will scavenge its shelves for anything fun and exciting. i can tell you that they have an entire wall of tea and nearly an entire aisle of snack items.
