What is Tampa Bay Anime?
Tampa Bay Anime (TBA) is an social group for adults that meets on a regular basis to watch and discuss anime -- Japanese animation.

What does TBA do?
TBA holds meetings every 2 weeks to watch anime, discuss the club's plans, and generally have fun hanging out with each other. We also attend anime conventions, including Metrocon. We're always looking for more ideas for events TBA can do.

What anime does TBA watch?
There are lots of different kinds of anime out there, so we try to show a generous cross-section of styles at each meeting. We've shown giant robots, romantic comedy, serious drama, supernatural thriller, high-intensity fighting, and everything in-between. If the club likes a particular anime a lot, we'll watch that show on a more regular basis. TBA encourages anime fans to support the domestic anime industry, so we only show anime that has not been licensed in the US, unless somebody brings a legitimate DVD of the series to a club meeting. Also, because TBA is a club for adults, we occassionaly show anime that would be rated R in American movie theaters, although not very frequently. These shows may include nudity, explicit violence, adult language, and sexual content. Most shows will not be this graphic - generally only one show per meeting, and possibly none. No hentai or other pornography is shown.

When & where does TBA meet?
We hold meetings every other Saturday at Perkins Restaraunt.

What happens at TBA meetings?
First, we have time for people to arrive and greet each other. Then, we have a short business discussion where we talk about what we'll be doing soon as a club. Then, we watch anime! We have several breaks in between the shows, to allow for bathroom breaks and discussion among club members. Since we have these breaks, we ask members to be reasonably quiet while the anime is being shown, so that everyone can enjoy the shows as much as possible. We don't mind laughter and just a little joking, but we generally like to watch the anime.

Occasionally, we'll have prize drawings at our meetings. Whenever we get our hands on merchandise to give away, everybody who attends gets a raffle ticket at the beginning of the meeting. Later, we hold a random drawing to see who walks away with the prize. On rare occasions, if we have a particularly valuable prize, we'll hold a fund-raising drawing, where donating money to the club treasury gets you chances at the drawing. When we hold one of these fund-raisers, it is announced on our website.

How much does it cost to join TBA?
Membership in TBA is absolutely free! Anybody of the appropriate age is welcome to visit our meetings or forums and participate. We do meet at a restaurant that is kind enough to give us space every other week, so we ask that you at least buy a soda or appetizer to show your appreciation to them. It's hard to find meeting space, so we are very grateful for their help. The food's pretty good, too, and reasonably priced.

Who can join TBA?
In order to attend Tampa Bay Anime meetings, you must be at least 17 years old or accompanied by a parent or guardian. This policy allows our members to enjoy themselves as responsible adults. It does not mean that we allow drunkeness or pornography (we don't). It just means that our members can enjoy themselves in an adult environment.

But I'm actually glad you put this post up because my alzheimers acts up and I forget the time... Would of been to more meetings probably... but maybe I should of just asked the quest but anywho very well put together!
